public persona, private ritual

Tara Lee Towers created intricate, hand-stitched works, that when installed together, create a wallpaper based on the inescapable history of women's work and its place in the life of the modern woman as both a cocoon and a prison. Using the inherent mathematics of the traditional doily to create her hand-drafted patterns, each element is unique in its execution. This work suggests a link with the search for perfection in the creation of female persona and the delicate fragility that mimics the private self.
